A woman who had sex in front of a shopping mall with a broken wine bottle stuffed in her bra was jailed. Rachel Hardy-Gent was naked from the waist down and her breasts were exposed when a delivery driver spotted her having sex in Whitley Bay.

Hardy-Gent, of Slatyford, Newcastle upon Tyne, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency, possessing an offensive weapon and breaching a suspended sentence. Sentenced to 16 weeks in prison North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard Hardy-Gent was in public view outside Park View Shopping Centre. Newcastle Chronicle reports.

Prosecutors said he was arrested police and her neck was later found to be jagged from a broken wine bottle stuffed inside her bra.

Prosecutor James Long said the delivery driver saw Hardy-Gent and a man driving down the shopping centre’s goods entrance.

He added: “They were lying on the floor and having sex. It is said that this defendant was naked from the waist down. His chest was also exposed. The man in question had pulled down his trousers and underwear and was clearly having sex.”

The court also heard that Hardy-Gent, who already has 58 offences, wanted to be sent to prison.

Mark Styles, defending, said his client drank so much alcohol that he passed out and had no idea how he got out of the shopping centre.

He said he took the glass bottle to protect himself but had no intention of using it. Mr. Styles said he wanted help with alcohol abuse and housing.

He added: “It’s a sad recourse for me to want him sent to prison but that’s what he wants and he’s an adult so maybe he knows what’s best for him.

“Alcohol is his demon as it is used to mask the impact of various events that have happened to him over the years. He wants the help that prison can offer.”
