Kaitlan Collins Asks Fetterman Why He’s the Only Democratic Senator Who Didn’t Sign Letter Demanding Answers on Bombing of Iranian School

FETTERMAN: Because we all agree that that school shooting was an absolute tragedy. We have now all agreed that there should be an investigation. What I disagree with my other colleagues in the House is that this is a war of choice, or stupid, or whatever else my colleagues have described this operation as. I think this is a good thing and I support it. So we agree on this: you know, and actually the Pentagon is already investing in this. Incredibly, it seems more and more likely that we’re on this now, they’ve acknowledged. And now I think that’s totally appropriate, just like my colleague in Louisiana said, like we should apologize. This is a tragedy. And I would like to remind everyone listening right now that the United States would never, ever target civilians. Iran does this, you know, including its own citizens. And they slaughtered…
COLLINS: Yes.
FETTERMAN: –35,000 of them just a few weeks ago. And the elevator and – please, please – the left media are much more angry, you know, talking about this hospital or about it. And this is a tragedy. But they didn’t seem too concerned about the Iranians’ massacre of tens of thousands of young people just a few weeks ago. So we agree on a lot of things, but we both disagree. I mean, we don’t all agree that this is a good thing. And every single Democrat at the meeting caused all sorts of negative remarks
COLLINS: We’ve covered the protests in Iran extensively here on CNN. Frankly, they said a lot about how people felt internally about the regime. But just to be clear-
FETTERMAN: I don’t watch it, so I don’t know, but I’m talking about other left-wing media.
COLLINS: You believe that the United States…
FETTERMAN: –and I didn’t develop you that way–
COLLINS: I understand. I wanted to make it clear that we are telling our audience this. But to be clear, if the United States is responsible, do you believe the Pentagon should admit there was an accidental attack on a girls’ school?
FETTERMAN: Yes, I said that. I said they seem to have already accepted all this. I think largely this letter has become moot at this point after what has already come out, now that the Pentagon has admitted that they were behind this. And I don’t know what’s being talked about on your network. But I say this, you know if it’s the way it is New York TimesThey’re trying to convince America that this is a disaster or that things are out of control. And that is categorically not true in this regard.
