Spears pleads guilty to reckless driving in DUI case

Pop star Britney Spears settled a case of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol by pleading guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving.
Spears’ lawyers argued on behalf of Spears at the hearing in Ventura County Superior Court, north of Los Angeles.
The 44-year-old singer was not required to attend the hearing because it was a misdemeanor case and he was not there.
He was initially charged with a single count of driving while under the influence of drugs and alcohol after California Highway Patrol officers arrested him in March.
Police tracked Spears and her vehicle in Ventura County after receiving a tip from a driver who was seen driving a black BMW erratically at a high rate of speed.
He was taken into custody after officers observed him showing signs of impairment, the Highway Patrol said at the time.
