Nine rushed to hospital after ‘medical emergency’ at primary school in Nottinghamshire

Nine people were taken to hospital due to a “medical emergency” at a primary school in Nottinghamshire.

Ambulances and police cars were seen outside Jesse Gray Primary School in West Bridgford around 2pm on Wednesday.

East Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it was called to a medical emergency at the school and a total of nine patients were transported to Queen’s Medical Centre.

The spokesman said an air ambulance, paramedics and hazard response team were called to the scene.

A spokesperson told the Nottingham Post: “The caller reported a medical emergency. We dispatched a number of resources, including paramedics in ambulance cars, crewed ambulances, and our hazardous area response team.”

“A responder from the air ambulance was also present. Nine patients were transported to Queen’s Medical Center.”

Nottingham Police said officers were at the scene “for support purposes” and that the incident was not being treated as a crime.

Concerned residents contacted borough councilor Jonathan Wheeler, who represents West Bridgford South, after seeing ambulances outside the primary school.

He said: “I have spoken to the school and they have a number of students going into hospital for precautionary checks, parents are aware of this and for their privacy I will not say anything further.

“Given the nature of the messages sent and the nature of the rumors surrounding it, the school is happy for me to post this update. Thank you.”

The exact nature of the incident is not yet known.
