US health department moves to strip thousands of employees of collective bargaining rights | Trump administration

The US Ministry of Health and Human Services (HHS), according to a union called the effort illegal, began to rob the collective bargaining rights of thousands of Federal Health Agency employees.

HHS officials confirmed on Friday, confirming that the department recognizes unions for a series of employees and recovered the office area and equipment used for union activities.

The last move to end the collective bargaining with trade unions representing federal employees of the Trump administration. Previously affected agencies include the Ministry of Veterans (VA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

In May, a Court of Appeal said that the administration aimed to end the collective bargaining rights for hundreds of thousands of federal employees while the administration has played a lawsuit with Donald Trump’s executive order.

“This action allows HHS resources and staff to focus on the protection of the health and safety of the American people,” the department spokesman Andrew Nixon said.

The US Federation of Government Employees said that strong union contracts did not prevent strong responses to public health emergencies. According to the union, rather, agencies such as Disease Control and Prevention Centers (CDC) help to have a stable, experienced and supported labor force.

Some CDC employees said that the union was a source of knowledge and advocacy for the agency’s employees after the August 8 shooting attack on the CDC’s main campus in Atlanta this year.

Since then, the union is trying to defend a better emergency warning system and better security.

Other affected agencies include Food and Drug Administration (FDA), National Health Institutes (NIH), Strategic Preparation and Intervention Administration and Refugee Re -Settlement Office within the Management of Children and Families.
