Alabama beats Oklahoma in CFP comeback

The Alabama Crimson Tide moved ahead in the College Football Playoff after a comeback victory over Oklahoma in the first round on Friday night.

Oklahoma jumped out to a 17-0 lead at halftime, then the Crimson Tide slowly pulled away, scoring 10 unanswered points and then tying the score with a 50-yard return by Zavien Brown before halftime.

Alabama scored the first 10 points of the second half and took the lead 27-17. But Oklahoma’s fight isn’t over. Sooners quarterback John Mateer threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Deion Burks to cut the deficit to four.

However, Alabama did not let the situation get worse and increased the difference to 10 with a touchdown in the last 10 minutes. That drive was highlighted by Germie Bernard’s circus catch, which set up a short score for Daniel Hill and they cruised to the 34-24 victory.

The Alabama win ensured that one of the program’s best streaks remained intact; Because no team has beaten the Crimson Tide twice in a single season since 1893.
