Americast – Has Trump given up on the midterms?

Available for more than a year
Donald Trump is losing public support because of the war in Iran, but how much does the president care? In a recent interview with Fox News, he said gas prices could be “a little bit higher” but downplayed fears that higher prices could cost Republicans in the midterm elections. With the US naval blockade in full swing and Iran threatening to halt shipping in the Gulf in retaliation, the president’s latest assertion that the war is “very close to being over” may be optimistic. On today’s episode, Justin and Sarah discuss China’s role in the blockade, the mood among Republicans, and whether the president can convince voters in November that short-term pain is worth long-term national security. And reports are emerging that four Senate races could end in Democrats’ favor, including battles in Georgia and North Carolina, two states won by Donald Trump in the presidential election. Can Democrats maintain their momentum later in the year?
