BJP washing machine back with Modi washing powder: Congress on AAP MPs switching sides
The Congress accuses the BJP of taking to task leaders of various parties facing cases and then moving slowly in taking action against them.
Ashok Mittal, one of the seven AAP MPs who left, had faced Enforcement Directorate raids just a few days ago.
“BJP washing machine is back with Modi washing powder. Those who consider themselves paragons of virtue, honesty and ideology are being ruthlessly exposed,” AICC general secretary for communications Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X. he said.
The Aam Aadmi Party suffered a major jolt on Friday when seven of its Rajya Sabha members – Raghav Chadha, Mittal, Sandeep Pathak, Harbhajan Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Vikram Sahni and Swati Maliwal – quit the party and merged with the BJP. They alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal-led party had deviated from its principles, values and basic morals.
While Chadha and Maliwal have fallen out of favor with AAP, the move by five other MPs to switch sides came as a surprise to many.
The exits were announced at a hastily held press conference, following which AAP chief Kejriwal alleged that the BJP had betrayed the people of Punjab, while state Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann called the seven MPs “gaddar” (traitors).
