Boys aged 14 and 16 among three charged with murder after Newcastle stabbing | UK | News

Three people, including two boys aged 14 and 16, have been charged following the death of a man stabbed in Newcastle upon Tyne. The attack happened on Shields Road in Byker on the evening of Tuesday, June 16. Gino Robb, 25, was taken to hospital after suffering stab wounds but was pronounced dead later that night.
Following the fatal knife attack, many arrests were made and a murder investigation was launched. Two men, aged 22 and 24, and a 16-year-old boy were initially detained on suspicion of murder but were released on bail while investigations continued.
Two more men, aged 40 and 33, and a 16-year-old boy were later arrested in the Walker area of the city on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. The 40-year-old man was later released on police bail pending further investigation.
A 14-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of murder. Jed Grieve, 33, of Orpington Avenue, Walker, is charged with murder along with two boys aged 14 and 16, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.
All three were remanded in custody and will appear at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 22.
Detective Chief Inspector Atherton, of Northumbria Police’s Main Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are absolutely with Gino’s family and loved ones following the tragic events of Tuesday evening.
“We continue to provide them with all possible support and request that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
He also stated that the investigation into the incident is “substantially ongoing” and that additional investigations are being conducted in Byker and Walker counties.
Det Ch Insp Atherton appealed for anyone with information about the stabbing to come forward and speak to officers.
He said: “As part of our investigation, we continue to appeal for information from anyone who saw two men on an electric motorbike who we believe entered Shields Road from the Grace Street area in the minutes before the incident and then turned back along Shields Road and headed towards the Grace Street area.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who has CCTV, dashcam footage or mobile phone footage of these areas at the time.
“Thank you to those who have contacted us so far, and if you have information or images that can help us, please contact us so we can give Gino’s family the answers they deserve.”
