CM Revanth Virtually Launches Safari, Butterfly Park in Kinnerasani Sanctuary

Hyderabad: Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy inaugurated almost two safari vehicles, trekking facilities, a butterfly park, a feeding lodge in the deer park and a CC road at Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district on Thursday.
Kinnerasani is a 635 square kilometer reserve forest named after the picturesque Kinnerasani Lake. Apart from different bird species, it is also home to a rich wildlife such as leopard, spotted deer and gaur. Safari vehicles will make it easier for tourists to watch animals in the wildlife sanctuary.
The vehicles were purchased at a cost of ₹ 45 lakh. A vehicle would go from Deer Park to Kinnerasani Watchtower. The other vehicle will operate between Harini Watchtower and Deer Park in Mandarikilapadu.
Speaking on the occasion at Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary, located 15 kilometers from the district headquarters, Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao pointed out that Bhadradri Kothagudem district has the largest forest cover in the state. He described Kinnerasani as the “lungs of Telangana”. He said efforts are on to develop Kinnerasani into a major tourist destination in Telangana.
The MLA said a glasshouse, a zoo, boat services and a tourist hotel will soon be developed in the wildlife sanctuary.
Speaking on the occasion, district collector Ankit announced that 55 lakh saplings will be planted in the district as part of Vana Mahotsavam. He stated that the responsibility for planting these saplings was given to 42 different departments.
District Forest officer G. Kista Goud stated that the district has the largest forest cover in the state with an area of nearly eight lakh acres. He underlined that efforts are being made to make Kinnerasani Wildlife Sanctuary one of the important tourist spots of Telangana.
Among those present at the event were Kothagudem mayor Moodu Ganesh and fellow collector (Local Bodies) Vidya Chandana.
