EX-PM’s Wife Dies At 85 In Bengaluru

BENGALUR: Chennamma (85), wife of former Prime Minister HD Devegowda, died at a private hospital in Bengaluru after suffering a heart attack around 4 pm on Saturday. He was hospitalized due to respiratory complications. In the official statement made by the hospital, it was said, “We regret to inform you that Chennamma suffered a sudden and major heart attack, although she was on the road to recovery.”

The bereaved family members, including HD Devegowda, Union Minister of Heavy Industries HD Kumaraswamy and MLA HD Revanna, rushed to the hospital. Arrangements will be made for people to pay their last respects to Chennamma at the residence in Bengaluru’s Padmanabhanagar on Sunday, before the bodies are transferred to her hometown Hassan for final rites on Monday.

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, former Chief Ministers Basavaraj Bommai and BS Yediyurappa expressed their condolences on Chennamma’s death.
