Man selling rare Pokemon cards to fund wedding

A teacher who came across rare Pokemon cards in his attic is hoping to fund his wedding after learning they could be worth a staggering £25,000.
More than 20 years after collecting the cards, Andrew Braund, 37, found them while cleaning out his childhood home in Wimborne, Dorset.
The groom-to-be initially believed his entire collection could cost “around £500”; until a friend who owns a trading card shop sees three incredibly valuable Charizard cards.
The valuable trio, which was housed in a separate tin box instead of a folder, is now estimated to fetch thousands at Ewbank Auctions on April 16.
A Skyridge Charizard Holo card in mint condition could sell for between £8,000 and £12,000, while another near-new version could sell for £10,000.
A third Reverse-Holo card is estimated to fetch between £1,600 and £2,200.
And Andrew “didn’t think they would be worth anything” and was in for quite a shock when he got an estimate.
“I was giddy when my friend told me how much Charizard cards could be worth,” The Sun quoted him as saying.
“I was really into Pokémon cards when I was a kid… I remember they were banned at boarding school.
“When the bans were lifted, everyone took them out of their pockets.
“Ironically, the three Charizard cards must have been from one of the last packs I purchased.
Despite their great value, Andrew admitted that the rare cards had less emotional significance than other cards from his childhood.
He continued: “It has the highest monetary value but the lowest spiritual value. My loved ones as a child look worn out because they are always in my pocket.”
Andrew is set to marry fiancée Rachel Moseley in August after proposing at the Chalke Valley History Festival in Salisbury in 2025.
He said: “I hope the sale of these cards will help towards my wedding expenses.”
