Chief Minister VD Satheesan said June 15 will be an important day in the history of Kerala with the launch of the Priyadarshini scheme at the state level, which offers free travel across the state to women and transgender people in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses. He said the plan will not only make KSRTC more people-friendly but also mark the beginning of a major transformation in the company.
The district level inauguration of the program will be held at Ernakulam Boat Jetty bus stand at 9 am.

The event will be opened by Deputy Hibi Eden. Mr. Satheesan said that KSRTC will be run on professional lines with detailed studies. He spoke after flagging off four new KSRTC buses deployed on the Aluva-Paravur route.
In response to numerous complaints from the public, the government decided to urgently deploy new buses on the route.
If the trial run of the new services is successful, more buses will be introduced. Two regular buses and two intercity buses started operating on the route.
The focus of the government is to provide the best possible public transport services, he said, adding that significant changes may be seen in KSRTC in the next six months.
Mayor Ramesh D. Kurup, North Paravur Deputy Transport Officer A. Anil Kumar and other department officials attended the event held at KSRTC bus stand in Paravur.
