French bus lands in Seine after trainee driver mistake

According to authorities and reports in the French media, a trainee driver who was learning to drive a city bus in a Paris suburb crashed his vehicle into the Seine River after making a steering error.
After leaving a bus terminal in the city of Juvisy-sur-Orge, the driver crashed into a parked car, sending both vehicles into the river, where they sank.
The city thanked rescue crews and first responders who pulled four people from the water without major injuries.
Citing eyewitnesses, Le Parisien newspaper reported that several members of a rowing club on the Seine river immediately rushed to help when they saw the bus falling into the water.
The 25-year-old female trainee, who was under the supervision of the driving school instructor, was detained by the police after the accident.
The governor’s office said emergency services were in the area with 34 firefighters, 60 police officers, as well as divers and many emergency vehicles.
The bus and car were then removed from the Seine River by two cranes.
