A babysitter who sexually assaulted two defenseless women, showed them explicit photos of his ex and bragged about attending an orgy has been jailed. Andrei-Ovidiu Miron, 41, abused his position of trust while working at an assisted living facility in Norwich, Norfolk.
Norwich Crown Court heard that although both victims were able to live independently, they had mental health problems and learning disabilities that required the help of support staff. Miron, from Norwich, initially denied the charges but changed his plea to guilty just before the start of the trial. He has now been sentenced to 2 years and 4 months in prison. Recorder Peter Guest said: “On two separate occasions, from a position of trust, you took advantage of these vulnerable women for your own sexual gratification.”
The court heard from prosecutor Andrew Thompson, who detailed how Miron accompanied a 26-year-old resident on a shopping trip as part of his duties in 2024.
After exchanging phone numbers, Miron went to the couple’s room where they had sex. A support leader was alerted the next day after the victim was left “overwhelmed and traumatized” and “struggling to process” what had happened.
The prosecution also outlined a separate earlier incident involving a 48-year-old resident. The court heard that she was “shaken, very upset and burst into tears” after Miron entered her room uninvited. Mr Thompson said when he walked in the wanton babysitter showed him half-naked photos of his ex-girlfriend, bent over her and rubbed his erection against her back, boasting about attending orgies in the area.
Martin Ivory, mitigating, argued Miron was not looking for work to target particularly vulnerable people.
He told the court: “Of course his behavior was inappropriate and he understands and accepts that. He was in a position of trust and he let himself down.”
In addition to his prison sentence, Miron was placed on the sex offender registry for 10 years.
He was also banned indefinitely from working with children and vulnerable adults and sentenced to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for life.
