‘It was perfect’: Trump says he underwent an MRI scan

US President Donald Trump said he underwent an MRI examination without saying why.

“It was perfect,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Tokyo on Monday.

A magnetic resonance imaging scan uses magnets and radio waves to create detailed images of the inside of the body.

It can be used to monitor a range of conditions.

Trump, 79, was the oldest person to be inaugurated as U.S. president when he returned to the White House in January and became the second-oldest person to serve in that high-level role.

In early October, the US president’s doctor said a medical evaluation found Trump’s health to be “exceptional.”

In July, the White House announced that Trump had swelling in his lower legs and bruising on his right hand, after photos showed Trump with swollen ankles and makeup covering the affected part of his hand.

Trump’s doctor, Sean Barbabella, said in a letter released at the time by the White House that tests confirmed the leg problem was caused by “chronic venous insufficiency,” a benign and common condition, especially in people over 70.

The doctor said the bruising on Trump’s hand was consistent with mild soft tissue irritation from frequent handshakes and aspirin use that Trump took as part of his “standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.”

The White House has since downplayed concerns about Trump’s health without providing details on how his leg problem was treated.
