‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ star Collin Gosselin takes aim at mom before memoir

Weeks after Collin Gosselin revealed his memories of growing up on reality television, he sent his mother a thinly veiled message.
Collin, 22, shared a New York Post headline about Kate, 51, on her Instagram stories over the weekend: “Kate Gosselin ‘spins’ in front of bombshell memoirs of estranged son Collin: ‘He knows he’s about to impress his fans.'”
She blurred her mother’s face and shared a follower’s comment, “What is done in the dark always comes to light.” people magazine.

Kate, 51, is reportedly “in conversion” about what her estranged son might reveal in his memoir “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.”

“Kate had no idea this book was in the works,” a source said Daily Mail “Collin hasn’t spoken to his mother since she left him in an institution as a young child.”
“He didn’t expect any of this to come out. Now he’s spiraling because he knows it’s going to get out of hand.”

“Jon & Kate Plus 8” aired on TLC from 2007-09, when the former couple divorced. A year later the show was rebranded as: “Kate Plus 8” It lasted until 2017.

Collin was allegedly diagnosed with conduct disorder, and Kate sent him to Fairmount Behavioral Health System, a psychiatric hospital in Philadelphia, when he was 12 years old.
“I couldn’t meet her needs here with my own resources,” Kate said in an episode of “Kate Plus 8.” Meanwhile, “Kate Plus 8” continued to air with seven other children. Jon claimed he didn’t know Collin had been sent to a behavioral institute until he had lunch with the kids one day and Collin wasn’t there.
Kate had custody of the children at the time and insisted she did not have to tell her estranged husband about Collin’s whereabouts due to a court order.

While Kate allegedly told people there was “zero facts” surrounding Collin’s claims, she reportedly had “evidence to back it all up.”
“Kate can’t stop this book from coming out, but I have no doubt she wants to,” the insider said.
Collin’s sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Hannah, Joel and Leah and twin sisters Cara and Madelyn were also reportedly blindsided by the memories.

The source claimed that the siblings “don’t really know the truth about what happened” other than what their mother told them.

Representatives for Kate did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Earlier this month, Collin revealed that his tell-all would be released in October, and included a photo from his childhood of his mother covering his mouth with her hand.
“For a long time, I wasn’t sure I would tell this story. Millions of people watched my life on television while I was growing up,” he wrote.

“People felt like they knew me. They knew my family. They watched me grow up. But there were so many things they didn’t see. For years I kept these experiences to myself. Some because I was afraid. Some because I didn’t think anyone would believe me. Some because I wasn’t ready.”

Collin added: “Writing this book forced me to revisit some of the most difficult moments of my life, but it also gave me something I’ve been searching for for a long time: my voice. This isn’t the story people think they know. This is the story I live.”
