King Charles and Queen Camilla ‘greatly saddened’ by Swiss ski resort fire | Royal | News

King Charles said he and his wife, Queen Camilla, were “deeply saddened” by the “devastating” fire at a Swiss ski resort that killed nearly 40 people.

Charles said it was “extremely heartbreaking to see a night of celebration for young people and families turn into such a nightmarish tragedy”. About 115 people were injured, many seriously, in a bar in the Alpine resort town of Crans-Montana two hours after midnight Thursday.

Authorities have not yet determined the exact death toll.

Crans-Montana is internationally known as a ski and golf destination, and the crowded Le Constellation bar transformed overnight from a scene of revelry to the site of potentially one of Switzerland’s worst tragedies.

The 77-year-old actor signed the message “Charles R.”
