Govt to Soon Announce Guidelines for New Online Gaming Law
NEW DELHI: On Monday, the government said that it would soon inform the instructions on the promotion and regulation of the online Game Law in 2025 and that there is a need for a regular transition for game companies and that there are measures to protect users’ funds. According to sources, with the prohibition of the online money game, some platforms began to implement compliance measures with the expectation of laws.
The industry reportedly taken various measures to ensure that the online Game Law in 2025, which was cleaned by both houses by 21 August and received the consent of the President a day later. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Key officials, industry representatives came together to address various concerns of the industry, which has been combined with uncertainties since the online game legislation, and discussed the future roadmap.
In addition, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technologies (Meity) is expected to act as one of the lock organizers. “The focus of the discussion was to protect the funds of users and encourage espor and social games. The points related to regular transition were also discussed and the industry has taken steps to ensure compliance with the Law,” he said.
However, the new legislation on online money games aims to “prohibit participation in proposals, operations, facilitations, advertising, promotional and online money games”. Thus, he targeted companies offering fantasy sports and online card games that require the possibility of risking money. Vaishnaw, while moving the bill in Parliament, said, “Many people addicts, lifetime savings evaporate and algorithms in use may have unexplained levels.”
IT secretary S Krishnan also said the government is working on a rapid implementation plan. “The law will come into force very quickly and all the necessary steps are taken in this regard,” he said.
In accordance with the new law, online money game services will be sentenced to imprisonment up to three years and a fine of up to 1 RS. “Advertising or introducing such platforms may cause a two -year imprisonment and a fine of up to 50 RS,” he said.
