Long before Rs 2,900 Crore Net Worth, Salman Khan was paid only Rs 75 as his first salary, here’s what his job was

The actor started his acting career in 1898 with the Bollywood movie ‘Biwi Ho Toh Aisi’, but it was ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ that really changed his career.

As Bollywood’s most eligible bachelor celebrated his 60th birthday on December 27, the outpouring of love from around the world proved why he is one of the most famous actors in the film industry. The superstar celebrated his birthday with his close friends and family at his farmhouse in Panvel on Wednesday night. Numerous videos from the big birthday party have surfaced on social media.

His immense hard work and dedication paved the way for him to achieve remarkable milestones.

The actor started his acting career in 1898 with the Bollywood movie ‘Biwi Ho Toh Aisi’, but it was ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ that really changed his career.

Salman Khan’s first salary

Salman Khan is not only one of Bollywood’s biggest superstars, but also one of the richest. With a career spanning over three decades, the actor has amassed an estimated net worth of around Rs 2900 million. However, not many people know that one of the actor’s first jobs was as a background dancer in a show held at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai and he was paid a salary of just Rs 75.

During an old interview, Salman candidly told PTI, “I think my first salary was around Rs 75 crore. I danced in a show at the Taj Hotel. One of my friends was dancing there, so he took me just for fun (and so I did). Then it went up to Rs 750 for Campa Cola (soft drink brand) and for the longest time it was Rs 1,500. Later, I was paid Rs 31,000. ‘Maine Pyar’ Kiya’, which was later increased to Rs 75,000.”

Khan is known for his hit movies like ‘Partner’, ‘Dabangg’, ‘Tiger’ series, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, ‘Sultan’ and others.

On the work front

On the occasion of his 60th birthday, the actor released the teaser of his upcoming film Battle of Galwan. In the trailer, Salman Khan is seen playing an Indian Army officer. The film is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict between Indian and Chinese troops and is directed by Apoorva Lakhia, best known for the film Conflict at Lokhandwala.

Battle of Galwan will be released in theaters on April 17, 2026. Produced by Salma Khan and produced by Salman Khan Films, the film also stars Chitrangada Singh along with Salman.
