Los Angeles Rams betting outlook: why one analyst is all in on a Super Bowl win at +550
If you watched the Super Bowl last year, you were probably a little disappointed. I’m sure if you were a Seahawks fan you wouldn’t be like this, and I know I was happy with some of the results, but the game itself was a bit boring. This was a far cry from the NFC Championship game, which was a fantastic back-and-forth battle between the Seahawks and the Rams, the team we break down here.
Last year
As noted, the Los Angeles Rams made it to the NFC Championship before falling short against the Seahawks. It was a good run, but the Rams looked vulnerable in each of their playoff games. They started against the Panthers and looked like they were going to lose until Matthew Stafford got the heroics. Speaking of Stafford, he had one of the best seasons of his career and the MVP award. In the Divisional Playoffs, he took advantage of the Bears’ bad route or bad shooting (depending on who you ask) and stole a 20-17 overtime victory. He was great against the Seahawks, but the Rams defense was unstoppable.

Off-season additions and subtractions
His unstoppability may be part of the reason why Los Angeles made a big splash this offseason. They traded for Myles Garrett, who is arguably the best defensive player on the planet right now. He was so big that even Aaron Donald is considering coming out of retirement and returning to the team. Stafford is coming back after considering retirement, so they addressed that concern. They added Trent McDuffie, one of the league’s best cornerbacks, and acquired Jaylen Watson in free agency to address the other side of the minor league. Their defense has to be even better.

If Donald comes out of retirement he probably won’t be as elite as he has been in the past, but I have to imagine he’s still fit and will be ready when the season starts. But it doesn’t look like it’s coming. Still, this defense, which was solid but not great last season, could be great this season. I don’t know if Stafford will lead the league in points and yards, but he still has Davante Adams and Puka Nacua. If the offensive line protects him and gives him time, he will tear apart even the best defenses he faces.

I’m all for the Rams this year. I think they are the best team in the NFL and have very few exploitable weaknesses. They are in a tough league; The Seahawks will still be good, the 49ers are always a tough team but I think 11.5 wins is too much for them. I have 13 wins for the year. I also like them to win the Super Bowl at +550. Maybe I’m overconfident in Garrett or their defense against a 38-year-old quarterback, but I think the Rams have all the pieces and will close the deal this season.
