National Highways said: “There are significant delays of over 90 minutes on the M6 ​​northern border in the West Midlands due to collision between J8 (for M5) and J9 (Wednesbury).

“At approximately 06:25 this morning, our West Midlands Regional Operations Center reported a collision involving 2 cars and a van. Initially traffic was held, at around 06:49 traffic was released in lane 1 only.

“Lanes 2, 3 and 4 will remain closed for vehicle recovery and collision clearance efforts. If this incident affects your planned route, please allow extra travel time. Plan ahead, you may wish to reroute or even delay your journey.”
