Man, 36, charged over alleged rape of 16-year-old girl in Glasgow park

A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly raping a teenage girl in a Glasgow park.
Police Scotland said the 16-year-old was attacked while walking near Moongate on the north-east side of Springburn Park on Friday, June 26.
On Saturday officers said a 36-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with a serious sexual assault.
He will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, July 6.
Police thanked those who assisted in the investigation.
Detective Inspector Sharon McPeake said: “We understand this is a worrying incident and I would like to take the opportunity to thank the public for their assistance with our investigation.
“We continue to engage with the local community and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to one of our officers.”
