Man gets prison in deadly shooting of ex-girlfriend as she pushed their baby’s stroller in NYC
NEW YORK (AP) — A New York man convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend pushing their babies into strollers He was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years to life in prison, prosecutors said.
A jury found Isaac Argro guilty of murder in the 2022 death of Azsia Johnson in May. Argro shot him in an alley next to a Manhattan playground, prosecutors said. He persuaded her to meet so he could give her something For their 3 month old daughter.
“Azsia Johnson was a loving parent who left an abusive relationship and began rebuilding her life. Her dreams of progress were horribly ended by Argro,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement.
A message seeking comment was sent to the attorney for Argro, 26.
Prosecutors said Argro physically and emotionally abused Johnson, 20. Argro eventually left her but was “committed to trying co-parenting,” the prosecutor said this spring.
Prosecutors said Johnson agreed to meet Argro on June 29, 2022, supposedly to collect baby items, and told a relative about the meeting by text. They said Argro was waiting for him on the street and shot him at the temple at close range. The child was not injured.

Then-Mayor Eric Adams and other officials attended a memorial service for Johnson the day after the attack, and supporters still post his photo at the attraction every year on the anniversary.
