Met Office map shows 19 areas hit by rain downpour on Saturday – list | Weather | News

Heavy rain is expected to damage many parts of the UK this weekend, with the Met Office predicting a “north-south divide” over the next two days. Weather maps created by the Met Office show showers affecting many parts of England on Saturday 4 July.
Maps suggest that at least 19 regions in the country will be adversely affected by unstable conditions, while others will see plenty of sunshine, with temperatures rising to 30°C. While southern and eastern areas will experience warm sunshine, most areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland will see cloudier, breezier conditions and occasional rain, heaviest in north-west Scotland. The forecaster said the most persistent and heaviest rain would be focused on western Scotland, particularly the West Highlands, where rainfall would be heavy at times. He said: “Eastern Scotland is expected to fare better, benefiting from drier, brighter conditions thanks to the rain shadow effect.”
