Chief Minister Lalduhoma said the last remaining ethnic rebel group in Mizoram laid down their arms on Thursday, April 30, 2026, and the state became “insurgency-free”.
Despite remaining inactive for several years, a Lalhmingthanga Sanate-led faction of the Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic) or HPC(D) has occasionally indulged in criminal activities at irregular intervals, officials said.
