‘My friend loathes Prince Andrew after she made one mistake upon meeting him’ | Royal | News

Prince Andrew reportedly asked a woman to curtsey a second time after making a mistake. According to journalist Harry Mount, a friend of his was staying at a house in Yorkshire where King Charles’ brother had been invited for dinner. However, after greeting him, he made a mistake that did not sit well with the Duke of York.

Harry wrote: i Paper: “She was nervous and curtsied to him when he entered the room. ‘No,’ he said. ‘It’s not right. I’ll leave the room, I’ll come in, and you’ll curtsey properly.’ And so he did. When he came back he fell even lower. But she’s hated him ever since,” the journalist added.

According to Harry, this encounter took place 30 years ago when Andrew was “still young, dashing and still the Duke of York”.

These days, she is no longer considered a working royal and recently gave up her titles amid new allegations against her.

The prince officially lost his military titles and royal patronages in early 2022 following controversy over his legal case with Virginia Giuffre.

Virginia, who died in April, alleged that the late Jeffrey Epstein forced her to have sexual intercourse with the Duke of York three times, in New York, London and the US Virgin Islands, when she was 17.

Andrew has consistently and vehemently denied these accusations. He later reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia; this was not an admission of guilt and he accepted no responsibility.

The father of two has also stepped back from public duties, meaning he will no longer carry out official royal duties.

More recently, Andrew renounced the use of all his titles and honors last week as new allegations continue to surface.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said that following consultation with the King and his immediate and wider family, it was decided that “the ongoing allegations against me are a distraction from the work of Her Majesty and the royal family”.

“As always, I decided to put my duty to my family and my country first,” he added. “I stand by my decision five years ago to stay away from public life.

“We think that, with His Majesty’s approval, I must now go one step further. Therefore, I will no longer use my title or the honors bestowed upon me. As I have said before, I strongly deny the accusations against me.”

Andrew will retain the Duchy of York but will no longer be known as the Duke of York.

Additionally, he will not be referred to as ‘Your Highness’ or perform duties associated with his former title.
