NCW Gives Nora Fatehi Final Chance to Appear Before It Over ‘Sarke Chunar Teri’ Song

New Delhi: The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Monday gave actress Nora Fatehi a final opportunity to appear before it in person regarding the song “Sarke Chunar Teri” and fixed April 27 as the next date of hearing. Taking suo motu notice of the song’s allegedly objectionable lyrics, the commission held a hearing on the matter on April 6. During the hearing, Fatehi’s lawyer appeared before the commission.

However, the committee did not accept representation through his lawyer and instructed the actor to appear before them.

“Nora Fatehi was given a final opportunity to appear before the commission in person on April 27, 2026,” the NCW said.

The hearing was chaired by NCW President Vijaya Rahatkar.

During the hearing, lyricist Raqueeb Alam, director Prem and representatives of KVN Productions – Gautam KM and Suprith – appeared before the commission.

Expressing his concerns about the lyrics of the song, Rahatkar stated that they were against the dignity of women and rejected the claim that those invited were unaware of the meaning of the lyrics.

“Women’s dignity cannot be compromised in the name of creativity,” he said.

The people present offered a written apology and acknowledged that the song had a negative impact on society, NCW said.

They also told the panel that they will work for women’s empowerment over the next three months and will submit a report to the commission.

The commission also directed actor Sanjay Dutt to appear before it on April 8.

“Sarke Chunar Teri”, which is a part of the upcoming Kannada movie “KD: The Devil”, created a huge controversy with its suggestive lyrics after it was released on YouTube. It has since been removed from the video sharing platform.

Directed by Prem and starring Dhruv Sarja, “KD: The Devil” will be released on April 30.
