Peel Regional Police Const. Sarah Patten said two men were found in the home suffering from gunshot wounds and “one of the victims did succumb to his injuries on scene” while the second victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“Investigators have given information that this is believed to be a targeted, isolated incident,” added Patten. “It is believed suspects fled in a vehicle.”

Neighbours, who live near the 3,000-square-foot home, said they believe the people who live there are renters or leasing the property.

Four vehicles were parked in the front driveway, including one modified black car. At least four surveillance cameras could be seen on the front veranda and above the two-garage driveway.

“We didn’t come outside because it is scary,” recalled Balbir Randhawa, who lives a few doors away from the shooting scene.

Speaking around noon Wednesday, she added her son heard four shots fired.

“Two people were running in front of her (next door neighbour’s) house and then my house,” said Randhawa. “And then 15 cars, police cars (showed up).”

“It is not safe living in Brampton,” added Randhawa, who won’t even sit on her spacious front porch.

She said she knows the home is a rental property but isn’t sure how many people are at the house. But Randawa said she believes a family lives there with a son, adding people keep arriving all the time in cars and tow trucks.

“So many cars park here (on the street) and they are drinking, so many empty bottles, what can we do?” said Randhawa.

She then mentioned police have been to the home for complaints and remembers that a black SUV was torched in the front driveway back on Feb. 20. Video obtained by the Toronto Sun shows two masked, hooded suspects encircling the black SUV vehicle with a gas can, pouring it on its front hood and roof, before setting it on fire.

The suspects can be seen fleeing the scene in heavy snow through a gated area on to Humberwest Pkwy.

Another neighbour, who lives north of the crime scene, said his daughter and wife, who were putting out Tuesday night’s garbage before the shooting, looked at their door-cam footage afterwards which  picked up two suspects and a white car “speeding” from the scene.

Daljeet and his wife, Suman, were watching TV in the back of their home and sometime after 8:30 p.m., they saw flashing police lights through their front door windows.

Daljeet said police showed up at their home, requested possible home security video and advised them “to stay inside.”

“We are scared,” said Daljeet. “I think last year (Feb. 20, 2025) somebody burned their car in the driveway.”

“Then a few months back the police came and arrested somebody who was visiting them,” said Daljeet.

“So there is maybe something going on, maybe a rivalry, or I can’t say exactly — but there is something,” said Daljeet.

A police command truck was set up on the street with various officers showing up throughout the day.

Drone footage showed that a swath of the backyard and a shed area were cordoned off with yellow police tape.

Police were canvassing the area on Wednesday asking neighbours for security camera video that could assist their investigation.
