Paedophile Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins killed in prison attack

Sources have confirmed that former Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins died on Saturday morning after being attacked at Wakefield prison in West Yorkshire while serving a 29-year sentence for child sexual offences.
Police and paramedics were called to Category A HMP Wakefield prison on Saturday morning after the high-profile pedophile was ambushed and fatally stabbed.
While a murder investigation was launched, it was determined that Watkins died at the scene.
The 48-year-old was jailed for 29 years in December 2013, with a further six years on license, after admitting a string of sexual offenses, including the attempted rape of a fan’s baby.
The disgraced singer was arrested after a drugs search warrant was executed at his home in Pontypridd on September 21, with several computers, mobile phones and storage devices seized.
Analysis of the equipment revealed Watkins’ immoral behavior.
He had previously been stabbed in an incident at the same prison in 2023 and suffered non-life-threatening injuries after reportedly being held hostage by three other inmates for six hours.
A statement from West Yorkshire Police said: “At 9.39am this morning (Saturday), police were called by staff at HMP Wakefield to report an assault on a prisoner.
“Emergency services arrived and the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
“Homicide Squad and Major Investigation Team detectives are continuing the investigation and investigations at the scene are continuing.”
A Prison Service spokesman said: “We are aware of an incident at HMP Wakefield this morning.
“We cannot comment further while police are investigating.”
