PM Modi emplanes for Maldives after concluding UK visit; to attend Independence Day celebrations

During his visit, the Prime Minister will participate in the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day celebrations as a guest of honor. He also visits the 60th anniversary of India-Maldivs diplomatic relations.

The visit followed the Prime Minister’s participation in the UK, where the Indian-England inspected the signing of the comprehensive economic and trade agreement.
During his visit to England between 23 July – July 24, Prime Minister Modi met his colleague Keir Starmer in England and the Prime Minister’s country residence in Dama.
The two PM welcomed the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to a new level, the India-England-England comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
The agreement significantly increased bilateral trade, investment, economic cooperation and employment in both economies.
The two sides will also enter into force with CETA and agreed to negotiate the double contribution congress by encouraging professionals and service industry in both countries and reducing the cost of doing business for commercial assets.
The two leaders also reviewed the entire range of the bilateral relationship and adopted the Indian-Uk Vision 2035.
Vision 2035 provides more ambition and renewed acceleration in the key areas of the economy and in growth, technology, innovation, research and education, defense and security, climate action, health and human-human relations for the next decade.
The two leaders also welcomed the conclusion of a defense industrial roadmap to encourage cooperation in the joint design, together and cooperation of defense products, aiming to meet the increasing demand in both countries and global markets.
In addition, they are satisfied with the increasing cooperation in new and developing technologies and the accelerated implementation of the Technology and Security Initiative (TSI), which has been completed for a year today. Venture focuses on telecom, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and health technology, semiconductors, advanced materials and quantum.
The two prime ministers also welcomed the increasing partnership in the education sector between India and the UK, and six is working to open campuses in India within the scope of the New Education Policy (NP). The University of Southampton, which opened its campus at Gurigram, is the first foreign university to open its campus in India.
Prime Minister Modi also thanked Prime Minister Starmer for the strong support and solidarity of the Indian people after the expensive terrorist attack and said that extremism and radicalization pose a threat to both communities.
Prime Minister Modi also sought the cooperation of Britain to bring economic criminals and fugitives fleeing India to avoid legal proceedings against them.
The two leaders also exchanged views on global and regional interests, including developments in Indo-Pacific, West Asia and Russia-Ukraine conflict.
PM Modi invited his colleague in England to visit India as soon as possible.
Following his meeting with Starmer, the Prime Minister was King III in Sandingham Estate in England. He met with Charles and discussed the bilateral issues between the two countries and the progress.
