POLL: Should Sadiq Khan resign over grooming gang scandal? | Politics | News

Sadiq Khan faces calls to resign after a bombshell investigation revealed he personally reviewed reports detailing childcare horrors; but he publicly insisted that no such gangs operated in the capital. The Daily Express and MyLondon investigation uncovered six cases of victims in official Inspectorate reports from 2016 to 2025 describing girls as young as 13 being drugged, gang-raped in hotels and threatened with death.

Maggie Oliver, the whistleblower who exposed Rochdale’s scandal, declared the three cases clearly exposed gang abuse, criticizing the “red flags” as identical patterns of cover-up. The scandal broke after GB News reported Mr Khan’s “unreliable” denials; former detective Jon Wedger claimed that organized child prostitution flourished under his watch. WION has highlighted Met Police allegations that a whistleblower accused the Mayor of withholding evidence, as he fears Sharia law will swirl in affected communities.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp criticized Khan for “facilitating a cover-up”, demanding accountability to prevent Rotherham-style failures. Reform UK’s Lee Anderson bristled: “Serious questions that need answers; survivors deserve justice, not blindness.”

In a dramatic twist, Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley acknowledged a “steady flow” of multi-offender investigations after the inquiry, with hundreds of cases flagged for review under the Home Office’s Operation Beaconport. Euronews points out that the fight has been revived, fueled by far-right voices such as Elon Musk strengthening the demands of survivors.

An anonymous victim accused Khan of “gaslighting” survivors: “Two of London’s most powerful men denying our trauma? Shameful.” Khan’s office insists child safety is paramount and has set aside £15.6m for an anti-abuse fund.

As protests grow and the opposition howls for blood, can Khan survive? Do you want him to go away?
