Queen Elizabeth’s centenary marked with stamps showing her love of dogs and horses

Queen Elizabeth II The centenary of Elizabeth’s birth will be honored with a new collection of 12 Royal Mail stamps celebrating her life and passions.

The eight stamps feature landmark photographs from the late monarch’s life, from his appearance on the balcony at his coronation at Buckingham Palace in 1953 to his first radio broadcast at the age of 14 in 1940.

His famous love of horses and dogs is reflected in a miniature sheet of four stamps showing him with pets or thoroughbreds throughout his life.

The presentation pack, which includes all 12 stamps, costs £22.50.

“With these special stamps, we pay tribute to the late Queen, whose devotion to duty is unparalleled in history,” said David Gold, Royal Mail’s director of foreign affairs and policy.

“The stamps tell the extraordinary story of a public life of dedicated service and a more private passion for dogs and horses, of which Her Majesty was a renowned connoisseur.”

The late Queen was a ubiquitous feature on British stamps during her 70-year reign.

His image was well known to the public and his likeness was also used on stamps depicting royal events and anniversaries.

Elizabeth II died peacefully at her home in Balmoral on September 8, 2022, aged 96, after 70 years as monarch.

He was the country’s longest-reigning monarch.

For the woman who could never be sovereign, the Queen has fulfilled her promise to serve the nation and the Commonwealth and has come to command the respect of many, from world leaders to the public.

The late Queen’s life will be remembered at a series of royal events in the run-up to her 100th birthday on April 21.

Her son, Charles II, reportedly wrote a speech that would commemorate his mother’s 70-year reign and highlight her legacy and services.

The stamps and various collectibles will be available for pre-order from the Royal Mail website from 14 April, before going on general sale from 21 April.
