Sarah Ferguson ‘burned through cash on Beatrice’s credit card’ | Royal | News

Sarah Ferguson burned the money off her daughter’s credit card after her overspending got out of control, according to new claims from a royal biographer. In the new chapter of Andrew Lownie’s book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, he claims the former Duchess caused chaos with her money habits.

The book’s first edition, published in August 2025, became a Sunday Times Bestseller as it detailed the shocking accusations against the former Duke and Duchess of York. The new 41-page episode titled ‘The Reckoning’, published on May 21, deals with new allegations against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

The former Duchess’s long-standing former personal assistant was extensively quoted in the new material. They claimed working for him was a “chaotic” nightmare and that staff suffered “overwhelming feelings of embarrassment 80% of the time” because of his demands.

The book claimed: “The assistant and other staff had trouble getting paid and often had to buy things using their own credit cards. Sarah was also constantly withdrawing money from Beatrice’s credit card and paying for a medium with cigarettes.”

He also had many costly demands, according to the book. One of the more peculiar requirements was that a fresh cream cake was to be baked every day, regardless of whether the previous one had been eaten or not.

Andrew Lownie’s more than 450-page book is said to have taken four years to research and includes hundreds of interviews.

While his book became a bestseller, some critics argued that his royal biographies relied heavily on second-hand accounts and presented events as facts in the absence of forensic findings.
