Sophie Ellis Bextor’s mother, Janet Ellis, has revealed she has had 10 miscarriages in just five years.
Janet, now 70, sadly lost ten pregnancies between the ages of 35 and 40 and received no medical explanation.
The TV presenter admitted she hadn’t told her famous daughter Sophie for years because she didn’t want to ‘burden’ her or prevent her from having more children.
Janet shares Sophie, 46, with ex-husband Robin Bextor, daughter Martha-Rose, 35, and son Jackson, 38, with late husband John Leach.
She said: ‘After three you become a patient in the recurrent miscarriage clinic. But they never discovered why this happened.’
‘I already had three children and I didn’t want to lose their childhood. They didn’t know anything about what was happening. So I never wanted them to think I was sick.

‘I didn’t want to be a burden to him’ [Sophie]. “And I didn’t want to delay her having any more children,” she said. Mirror.
Although Janet never found out why she had 10 miscarriages, she feels the medical explanation for other women is still ‘not fully explained’ to this day.

Sonny moved from the family home in West London to be with his grandmother and former Blue Peter presenter Janet.
To talk TimesSonny explained his reasons for the move and sweetly said he and Janet are now ‘closer than ever’.
He said: ‘I think it got to the point where I needed more space when I got home. My three siblings shared the same room. The only time the house was quiet was when everyone was in bed.
‘When I got to the end of school my grandmother asked me if I wanted to move away. ‘I’ve been coming here all my life, so it’s always felt like my second home anyway.’

He stated that there were no house rules living with him, but that he helped with the laundry and dishes, but ‘nothing was forced’.
Sonny and Janet often eat together, with Janet cooking for him; but they ‘mostly do their own thing’.
He said the following about his future plans:’I’m not sure how long I’ll stay here. If I were to move, I’d want it to be somewhere nice and that would be expensive.
‘But I think I would miss the comforts of home if I left. I was going to miss my grandmother too. We’ve always been close, but now we’re closer than ever.’
Janet told how happy she was with the company in her five-bedroom home, which felt ’empty’ after her husband of 32 years, John, died of cancer in 2020.
