Terrorist group who masterminded UK attacks ‘run by senior Iranian spymaster’ | World | News

A terrorist group claiming to be behind numerous attacks on London’s Jewish community has been revealed to be a proxy of the Iranian state. US officials evaluated the claim that Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (Hayi) was operated on by a high-level Iranian agent.

The group is thought to be behind nearly 20 attacks across Europe in less than three months. Times reports. According to the US Department of Justice (DoJ), this was a front designed to further attacks by Hezbollah, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the IRGC’s proxy, Kata’ib Hezbollah, operating in Iraq. The criminal complaint details how Hayi created his own logo and published his own charter to portray himself as independent.

However, the founding declaration was published on media channels used by the Revolutionary Guard, Hezbollah and Kata’ib Hezbollah to spread propaganda and information, and its logo was “strikingly similar” to Hezbollah’s.

The complaint also included a series of terrorism charges against 32-year-old Mohammed Baqer Saad Dawood al-Saadi, an Iraqi citizen, according to The Times. The alleged commander of Kata’ib Hezbollah is accused of planning attacks on a synagogue in New York and Jewish institutions in Los Angeles and Scottsdale, Arizona, prosecutors said.

18 terrorist attacks against US and Israeli interests in Europe were reported, and the complaint alleged that Al-Saadi was involved in the planning and execution of these attacks.

According to the Justice Department, these attacks “appear to have been carried out in retaliation for recent military actions by both the United States and Israel against Iran and to force the United States and Israel to cease these actions.”

The Justice Department also alleged that Al-Saadi used Hayi’s front to carry out the attacks.

These include an arson attack on four ambulances belonging to the Jewish charity Hatzola in Golders Green in March.

Al-Saadi and his friends are also reportedly linked to the stabbing of two Jews in the same area in April, and a suspect has been charged.

The DoJ document did not provide further details about the alleged connections.
