The Deb actor in feud with Rebel Wilson signed $150,000 record deal, court told | Rebel Wilson

An actor who accused Rebel Wilson of hurting his career has signed a record $150,000 deal with a publisher that represents international superstars amid a feud with Wilson.

Charlotte MacInnes is suing the Pitch Perfect actor over social media posts claiming MacInnes felt uncomfortable after taking a bath with Wilson’s co-producer on The Deb musical movie Amanda Ghost.

MacInnes also claims that the posts, which were visible to Wilson’s 11 million followers 24 hours a day, suggested she dropped the complaint in exchange for good acting and music opportunities.

The actress, who starred in The Deb, denies complaining to the Bridesmaids actor and says her reputation was severely damaged before she could reap the benefits of starring in her first feature film.

But Wilson’s lawyer, Dauid Sibtain SC, argued MacInnes had done no harm to his career since his first social media post in September 2024.

MacInnes signed a record deal with Atlantic Records in late 2025, his manager Shoshanna Stone said in a federal court filing Wednesday.

He said the deal was for two EPs and included an advance worth US$110,000 ($154,000).

Stone’s high-profile clients include Britney Spears, Shakira, Boy George and Alicia Keys.

He told the court he cast MacInnes after his friend Ghost heard about the young actor’s talent.

The promising artist’s second single will be released on Thursday.

His manager rejected suggestions that it was timed to coincide with the court battle.

Hannah Reilly, co-writer of The Deb, praised MacInnes as a talented, enthusiastic and cheerful actor who had been irrevocably “hardened” by his social media posts.

In an affidavit filed in federal court, Reilly wrote that MacInnes admitted they took away some of his innocence and trust in the world.

MacInnes said he experienced vivid nightmares and panic attacks and stopped eating for days.

“He expressed to me that this was a nightmarish force that consumed everything in his life,” Reilly wrote.

He said he observed that MacInnes had become more armored as a result of Wilson’s social media posts, and that these posts left him with a constant feeling of alertness and anxiety.

Before September 2024, he had a reputation as a “bright star in the making,” Reilly wrote in his affidavit.

He thought Wilson’s subsequent social media posts suggested MacInnes was a liar who performed sexual favors to get a role and record deal.

Wilson denies the posts are defamatory and maintains MacInnes made them before withdrawing the complaint to appease Ghost and secure his future as an artist.

Deb was released in Australia in early April after legal issues prevented widespread release following its 2024 film festival premiere.
