Trump lays out Iran deal demands, says he’s about to make ‘final determination’

President Donald Trump said Friday morning that he was meeting in the Situation Room “to make a final decision” after listing everything Iran needed to do to approve a deal to end the war.

This was not immediately clear from Trump’s statement. Real Social Which of the make-or-break conditions is part of the preliminary agreement that U.S. and Iranian negotiators are currently working on to pause the three-month war.

In his post, Trump demanded that Iran “must agree” to never have nuclear weapons and that the Strait of Hormuz should be “immediately open” to unrestricted ship traffic.

He also said that the US retaliatory naval blockade of Iran in the Gulf of Oman “will now be lifted”, although it is not clear whether he meant that this step would be taken only if previous conditions were met.

Trump’s post also stated that the enriched material found at the site of the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities last year will be discovered and destroyed by the United States “in close coordination and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.”

Iranian officials had struck a defiant tone against the United States early Friday, citing ties with its neighbors in the Middle East, including Oman, a recent target of Trump’s threats.

“Oman is going to act like everyone else, or we’re going to have to blow them up,” Trump said at a Cabinet meeting Wednesday. A day later, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned Oman that the United States would “aggressively target” anyone involved in “facilitating transit passages” in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for world oil trade.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi shared on channel X that he spoke with his Omani counterpart and “expressed Iran’s solidarity with Oman in the face of any threat.”

Iran must accept that it will never have a Nuclear Weapon or Bomb. The Strait of Hormuz should be opened immediately for unrestricted shipping traffic in both directions, without charge. All water mines (bombs), if any, will be destroyed (we have eliminated a large number of such mines by detonation with our large underwater demining vehicles. Iran will immediately complete the removal and/or detonation of the remaining mines, of which there will not be many!). Ships stranded in the Bosphorus due to our surprising and unprecedented Maritime Blockade, which will now be lifted, can begin the process of “coming home”! Say HELLO to your wives, husbands, parents, families and your favorite President from me! The enriched material, sometimes referred to as “Nuclear Dust”, caused by our powerful B2 Bomber strike 11 months ago and buried deep underground with nearly collapsed mountains, WILL be uncovered and DESTROYED by the United States (considered to be the only country, along with China, with the mechanical capability to do so) in close coordination and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency. There will be no currency exchange until further notice. Other items of much less importance were agreed upon. I will now meet in the Situation Room to reach a final decision.
