Trump’s disapproval rating hits record high in new poll

The high disapproval rating comes on top of negative views on Trump’s handling of the Iran war, the economy and the cost of living, issues on which the president has consistently polled poorly over the past few months.

Trump’s overall approval rating in the new poll was 37%, down two points from pollsters’ February figures. But the president has fared worst on inflation and cost of living; More than two-thirds of those surveyed said they were dissatisfied with this situation. Their lowest rating is for their perception of the overall cost of living in the country, with 76% disapproval and 23% approval. This is followed by perceptions of Trump’s handling of inflation; 72% of them disapprove and 27% approve.

Trump fared slightly better when it came to the overall economy, but a majority were still dissatisfied with the president’s performance, with 65% disapproving and 34% approving. There has been a seven-point decrease since February.

High support for Trump among Republicans has remained at 85%, unchanged since February. But its rating among Republican-leaning independents hit a new low of 56%. His approval rating among independents overall is just 25%. The president’s democratic approval is even lower at 5%, while the other 95% disapprove of his handling of the job.

Among registered voters surveyed, Democrats are favored by five points over Republicans in House elections; This rate is higher than the two-point difference in the February and October surveys.
