Youth Held For Looting Aunt’s Locked House

Tirupati crime police arrested a 20-year-old youth who broke into his aunt’s house and seized gold ornaments worth 28.16 lakh in Tirupati in 24 hours.
The accused, Annam Prithvi of Chennareddy Colony, was arrested. Police seized 177.6 grams of gold jewelery worth Rs 28.16 lakh, along with a Honda Activa scooter, a mobile phone, a house key and a screwdriver allegedly used in the crime.
According to police, the accused targeted his aunt’s house after learning that the family had gone out on May 28. He allegedly used a spare key to enter the house, forced open the safe in the bedroom closet and stole the ornaments.
The case came to light during vehicle checks near Alipiri on Saturday. Police said the teenager was found carrying the jewelery and could not provide a satisfactory explanation.
It was claimed that he confessed to the theft during interrogation and all the stolen goods were seized. Police said he planned to throw away the ornaments when he was arrested.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of SP L. Subbarayudu and Additional SP (Crimes) A. Srinivasulu.
Assistant engineer caught taking bribe in Nandyal
An assistant engineer working on contract basis under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials in Nandyal district for allegedly demanding and accepting bribes to process contractors’ invoices.
The case was registered on the complaint of T. Sriramulu, a construction contractor from Telecom Nagar in Kurnool. The accused, identified as T. Ramesh, was working as an Assistant Engineer at Ponnapuram in Nandyal district.
According to ACB officials, Sriramulu had carried out civil works at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Jupadu Bangla, including a computer room at ₹ 18.50 lakh and a library room at ₹ 23.10 lakh, with a total project value of around ₹ 41.60 lakh.
The complainant alleged that after completion of the works, the Assistant Engineer demanded ₹40,000 for entering details in the Measurement Book (M-Book) and processing the pending invoices.
Following the complaint, ACB officials conducted a trap operation. The accused was allegedly caught accepting the bribe amount within Nandikotkur-Kurnool-Guntur highway limits in Nandyal district on Saturday.
ACB detained the suspect and arrested him. Authorities said searches continued at his home and office buildings.
The accused is expected to be produced before the ACB Court in Kurnool.
Construction worker died by suicide
A construction worker died by suicide in the government hospital building in Guntur on Saturday.
According to the police, Ch. Srinivas, 50, hailing from Undi village of West Godavari district, was admitted to the hospital on May 23 due to kidney ailment. To answer the call of nature, he left the ward and resorted to the most extreme step. His wife also died recently.
While the police detected a suspicious death case, the investigation continues.
