‘Kaun Suvendu Banega’ Buzz Among BJP Workers

Hyderabad:“Kaun Suvendu Banega” has become the most talked about phrase among the BJP’s committed workers in Telangana after the party’s decisive victory in the politically challenging territory of West Bengal. With the BJP now positioned as the largest party in Bengal and Suvendu Adhikari poised to become the state’s first BJP chief minister, Telangana workers draw a sharp contrast: The BJP has a bright future in Hyderabad and across the state, but they argue it still lacks a leader who can lead from the front with the courage, organization building and mass connect that Suvendu has shown in Bengal.

A dedicated BJP worker from Puranapool said many leaders in the state are openly campaigning to become chief ministers or ministers, but there are hardly any senior faces who can walk the same tough ground, selfless struggle that Suvendu adopted to turn Bengal into a BJP stronghold. “In Bengal, he stood under the sun, went to the fields, sat on the streets and fought with the TMC and the Congress for years. We have a healthy dose of ambition here, but we do not have the courage to sweat for the growth of the organisation,” the worker said.

Another grassroots worker from Chaitanyapuri added: “Look at Bengal: The BJP was once a marginal force, but with Suvendu’s incessant campaigns, the party is now a government in the making. The terrain in Telangana is more favourable, with clear anti-Congress and anti-BRS sentiment, strong urban middle class support and a growing youth base. We don’t just need more faces at the top, we need a leader. Who can turn this into a permanent majority?”

Echoing this view, a senior local leader from Secunderabad said: “BJP’s future in Telangana is as promising as in Bengal, but we need a leader who can fight against the establishment every day, not just after the elections. If we want a Suvendu-style revival here, the party must groom someone who stays on the ground, speaks the language of the people and builds the organization from scratch.”
