Prabhakar Takes Charge as CMD of Visakha Steel Plant

visakhapatnam: MNVS Prabhakar took over as chairman and managing director (CMD) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, on Tuesday.

An eminent technocrat and seasoned steel industry leader, Prabhakar has over three decades of rich and diverse experience in the Indian steel industry. He previously served as managing director of NMDC Steel Limited (NSL), where he successfully led one of the most remarkable operational and financial turnaround initiatives in recent years.

Prabhakar started his professional journey in 1991 at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) as a management trainee (Technical) after completing his Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from VRCE, Nagpur. He later earned an MBA in HR and Marketing. Throughout his illustrious career, he has steadily risen to key leadership positions across different operational units and functional areas and has been recognized for his deep operational insight, strategic vision and commitment to excellence.

Prabhakar’s appointment as CMD comes at a pivotal juncture for RINL as the company continues its journey towards operational strength, financial sustainability and long-term growth.
