FIFA World Cup 2026 LIVE updates Brazil v Norway, Mexico v England, Round of 16 games, standings, players, teams, schedule
A strange first half (sorry again) for the Norwegians, who were enjoying two-thirds possession but also coughing up piles of phlegm during a bad bout of flu. This allows Brazil to compete against counter-attacks that are now becoming inevitable.
Norway’s forwards are centered on the long ball. But still… they could have been one goal ahead if it hadn’t been for the offside call in the fourth minute. Having said that, it could have been a goal too but Guimaraes failed to convert the penalty – seemingly the first Brazilian player to miss a goal at the World Cup since 1986. This was the year before I was born, folks, and let me tell you that was a while ago.
For the above reasons, Haaland did not have much of the ball (10 touches to be exact) but he still positions himself well and, as we know, only needs half a minute.
But Odegaard was almost everywhere and really should have scored in stoppage time. In terms of time and space, he took a shot that Alisson could easily stifle. This was their best chance of the half.
