Several Americans injured in Iranian ballistic missile strike on a Kuwaiti air base

Several Americans were injured in Iran’s ballistic missile attack on a Kuwait air base, after Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that troops were preparing to “restart if necessary.”

According to sources, five people, including contractors and active duty personnel, suffered minor injuries following the missile attack. Bloomberg.

A person with direct knowledge of the attack said Kuwaiti air defenses intercepted the missile but debris still hit Ali Al Salem air base.

According to Bloomberg, the Iranians used the Fateh-110 missile, which was intercepted by two MQ-9 Reaper attack aircraft, destroying one of them and severely damaging the second. The cost of each drone is estimated at $30 million.

The Fateh-110 missile is a short-range ballistic missile and can fire up to 124 miles. Tehran has fired more than 1,850 ballistic missiles since the start of the war, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the White House, US Central Command and the Pentagon for comment on Bloomberg’s report.

Ali Al Salem Air Base was nicknamed ‘The Rock’ because it stands high above the surrounding desert. The base is approximately 39 miles from Iraq.

The US military accused Iran of violating a ceasefire agreement starting in April after Kuwait reported the attack on Thursday.

US Central Command called it a ‘horrendous ceasefire violation’, while the Kuwaiti State Department accused Iran of ‘blatant aggression’.

While thousands of people have lost their lives since the war began in February, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has caused economic turmoil due to rising energy prices.

A temporary ceasefire agreement was reached in April, but both Washington and Tehran have since accused each other of violations.

Ongoing negotiations have since stalled, but President Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday that he would make the ‘final decision’ on the proposed deal during a meeting with advisors in the Situation Room.

The president called on Iran to agree to never have nuclear weapons and immediately open the Strait in both directions without tolls or restrictions.

The world was eagerly waiting for the agreement to be updated. Many officials briefed on the offer told the New York Times that the US-Israeli military operation would end in exchange for Iran lifting its blockade of the Bosphorus.

Iran has blocked the vital energy waterway and blocked access to US ships in retaliation for repeated US attacks.

The shutdown blocked oil and gas shipments and caused gas prices to skyrocket in the U.S. and abroad.

Hegseth made the veiled threat while speaking about the negotiations at the Shangri-La Dialogue forum for defense leaders in Singapore on Saturday.

“Our ability to restart if necessary… we are more than capable,” Hegseth said, adding: “Our inventory is more than capable of doing so both there and around the world, so we are in a very good place.”

He added that Trump is “patient” and wants to make a “big deal” with Iran that will ensure that the country does not have access to nuclear weapons.
