Teenager in hospital after ‘horrific’ machete attack by two men on a moped

A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital after a “horrific” machete attack, police said.
West Midlands Police said the teenagers were believed to have been approached by two young men on a motorbike while Dudley was walking in the Duncan Edwards Close area just before 2pm on Saturday.
According to police, the men attacked the boy, seriously injuring him in the chest and face, before running away.
He was taken to hospital, underwent surgery and was in serious but stable condition, police said Sunday.
Referring to the statements of eyewitnesses, the police seized security cameras and mobile phone images.
Detective Inspector Joe Davenport, of the force’s major crime unit, said: “This was a horrific attack in the middle of the day and could have easily resulted in this child’s life.

“We have been working tirelessly since then to understand exactly what happened and who was responsible and I would urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”
Information is available via the force’s website or by calling 101 quoting log 2561 of 23 May.
Earlier this month, two teenagers admitted killing a 14-year-old student in a separate machete attack on a London bus.
Kelyan Bokassa was stabbed approximately 27 times while returning home on the 472 bus in Woolwich, south-east London, on Tuesday, January 7.
Emergency services were called to Woolwich Church Street, near Woolwich Ferry, just before 2.30pm.
Kelyan, an aspiring rapper, suffered a severed femoral artery and died shortly after paramedics arrived at the scene.
In an unusual move, Scotland Yard released CCTV footage and named the two boys as part of a public appeal for information.
The two boys, both 16, were charged with murder and appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday for a plea hearing.
The pair pleaded guilty to murdering Kelyan and possessing a knife in Church Street, Woolwich.
