The cost your food shop is set to increase again. Here’s why

The figures, food price inflation increased in succession for the sixth month in July.
According to the British Retail Consortium (BRC) -NIQ Shop Price Monitor, the increase in meat and tea prices is an important factor.
The study showed that food prices were 4 percent higher than 3.5 percent in June and 3.5 percent higher than a three -month average.
Fresh food inflation remained at a rate of 3.2 percent, but the environment of food prices rose to 5.1 percent higher than last June last month.
Total shop price inflation rose from 0.4 percent to 0.7 percent in June in June and from 0.3 percent to the average of three months.

BRC General Manager Helen Dickinson said: “Families will see that food bills increased as food price increases during the sixth month.
“For both categories, wholesale prices were shot by firmer global materials, so staples such as meat and tea were hit the most difficult.
“This helped increase general shop prices. With discounts in fashion and furniture, there were several bright points that offered consumers the chance to renew their wardrobe and their homes.”
Mike Watkins, NIQ retailers and business insight, said: “Household budgets of consumers are under pressure to see the price increases of food retailers on CPI (consumer price index).
“However, the price competition that the promotional activity helps will still mean that shoppers can save money by shopping.
“With Up Inflation, High Street retailers will be worried about keeping customers in the summer holiday season if they will maintain sales acceleration.”
