UK heatwave weather forecast as 32 counties to see 30C+ again in days | Weather | News

It’s been a scorching week across the UK, with even hotter weather forecast in the coming weeks. According to the latest weather maps from WX Charts, some areas will see temperatures of 30C or above on Tuesday, July 7 and Wednesday, July 8.

Maps are once again turning red across the country, with widespread warm temperatures expected in 32 counties. The mercury is expected to reach 36C in London by 6pm on July 8, with some other areas bracing for temperatures of 33C or higher. This comes after the UK broke the maximum temperature record for the third day in a row on Friday; 37.3C was reached at Santon Downham in Suffolk. In some other regions temperatures were recorded above the previous record of 35.6C, reached in 1957 and 1976.

On 7 July, maps show that the temperature reached 34°C in London at 18:00. Meanwhile, the mercury will also reach 33C in some other regions as the country enjoys more sunshine.

Separately, the Met Office’s long-range forecast for the UK, running from Thursday 2 July to Saturday 11 July, calls for widespread dry and sunny conditions. Temperatures are expected to be “slightly warmer than average in the south.”

The Met Office said: “A drier start to July for most. Cloudier towards the west, otherwise plenty of sunshine for most. Parts of the north-west may experience occasional rain, perhaps accompanied by strong winds at times.”

“Temperatures are likely to start out close to average in the north and slightly warmer than average in the south, but will tend to rise further as high pressure dominates the weather in the second week of July, particularly in England and Wales.”

The UK has seen scorching weather this week, with the Met Office recently extending its amber extreme heat warning until Sunday morning (28 June). The forecaster described the record temperatures as “unprecedented for the month of June”, adding that the heat was “yet another sign of how climate change is turning the dial on extreme temperatures in the UK”.

In its forecast for the next five days, the Met Office calls for hot, dry weather until Sunday, before temperatures drop slightly on Monday. However, it will remain dry with light winds making conditions more pleasant.

The following counties will see temperatures of 30C or above on Tuesday, July 7 or Wednesday, July 8, according to WX Charts
