Police race to UK hospital after man ‘attacks patients in A&E waiting room’ | UK | News

Police descended on an A&E hospital in England after a man was reported to have attacked patients in the waiting room. Greater Manchester Police attended the scene at Bolton A&E shortly after 4.15pm today (January 2). Manchester Evening News (MEN) reported.

A man brought to the Emergency Department by police began “yelling” at other patients in the waiting area and allegedly attacked two people, the newspaper reported. Michael Anderson, who was waiting with his pregnant partner, told MEN that he and a nurse had to get the suspect to the ground to prevent further attacks. Security later arrived and the man was arrested.

A spokesman for Manchester Police said: “Officers were called to the incident at around 4.15pm today. A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of s18 and s47 assault, police assault and racially aggravating public order.”

The spokesman did not provide any details about the nature of the injuries suffered by the victims.

The Daily Express has contacted Greater Manchester Police and Bolton NHS Foundation Trust for further comment.
